Seriously, have you looked at what is on offer in today’s market where residential Park Homes are concerned? They are boxes with windows. Boring, and about as aesthetic as a shoebox.
Over the years, we have seen a shift in design from the standard, awful looking, Eco Killing Poorly Insulated Standard Caravan, towards a more residential looking structure made from thin timber framing and gallery windows. Aesthetically nicer looking but still poorly insulated and way over priced.
Logcabins.lv design team once again brings to market an awesome newly inspired design that not just makes all other residential cabins or park homes look “yesterdays fashioned” but kicks ass where high insulation values and low pricing are concerned.
When buying a park home, or a static caravan, your main concern is that you have a warm comfortable homely environment, with all the mods and cons! (But should investment also be a factor?) And that your investment will reap rewards on turn of sale!
No doubt, most of you have done your homework and have looked at the second hand value of the Park Home units you are looking to purchase.And sadly you will discover that 99.9% of them are only worth a mere fraction of the original cost!
Our thoughts on this problem have pushed us to start to design Park homes that not only cost a lot less, but will hold their value, looking at what is available on the market at present we believe our build standards are way in front of anyone now and in the future.
Lets look closely what is available on the market to date.
After visiting 10 websites offering park homes, we have found none of them actually mention construction, only stating Plastic Windows, Doors, and a 40-year life on the metal roof, which is standard to all metal shingles. A lot of companies show modern furniture, bathrooms, and kitchens, most of which is either purchased from IKEA or China! If you take away all the pretty pictures of inside, what are you left with? Yep! a very thin, flimsy box with UVPC windows and doors. Starting price 80.000 pounds plus! Amazing value!!
We don’t think so!
It amazes us, when you look at what companies write on their website, they use wording like, amazing Finnish Pine, what is amazing about Finnish Pine? Seriously? Its Pine, amazing Pine comes from Northern Siberia. Its tighter grained and a lot less knotty.
Educating the public and being honest about what is really on sale is missing in this business, its “time-share” looking for another avenue to sell unsuspecting pensioners the dream!
Most of us saved as young adults to buy our first house; we then sold that and bought something bigger to accommodate the family, the profit from our first house helped us buy bigger, climbing the ladder, and all through our lives we invest in our property, adding extensions, summer rooms etc, all of us invest in the future for our children.
So we retire, sell the house, and look for an idyllic spot to have some calm in life, so you look on the internet and spot a park home offering amazing views and quality park home units, with photos showing fields and meadows, ponds and lakes.
You’re then given a brochure with amazing photos of park homes, looking modern, amazing, and as always sited on the park of your choice, and the cost for all this is starting at 145.000 pounds.
So, what actually are you getting for your money?
If your Park Home is 6m x 20m then a as part of the price you are given a plot of land on lease to stand your residential park home.
Questions to ask, is your residential park home highly insulated?
Is your park home an investment?
What kind of materials is used to manufacture your park home?
Will your park home qualify in say 10 years against any new regulations that might come from the EU regarding U vales, or building codes?
Is your park home made from building materials that will last 10 years? Are they graded? And what grade?
Is the furniture inside your new park home really worth the money it’s costing you?
What kind of insulation value does your Park home have?
Lots and lots of questions, and do you really need to ask them, well! simple answer to that is Yes!
Would you buy a car with faulty brakes?

Over the last few days, our partners in the UK, and Ireland have been asked what is the difference between a Logcabins.lv Log Cabin, and a Logcabins.lv Interlocking Shed.
I thought I would write a quick Blog on the difference between the two.
The Log Cabin which is sold by many in the UK is a design that originates from Europe. Yep the dreaded EU!
The First large company to mass produce LOG CABINS was a company called Mc Garden from Germany.
Their production was around 7000 buildings a month. Their sole output was to Germany, and the rejects were then sold on to Britain and other countries.
When companies in the UK, mainly shed-manufacturers and sellers, saw how popular log cabins were becoming, then every man and his dog, started importing them and selling them. Also we have small home grown companies buying in the machinery and trying to produce log cabins themselves.
So we all shout hurray ! We have Log Cabins! But really you do not! What you have is a mess, a lot of the same, being manufactured by the same like minded people, and sold at the same pricing level! Basically we have the same rubbish being manufactured, or imported by 99.9% of cabin, log cabin sellers in the UK.
Sound’S a bit harsh? Well sorry but it’s sadly the truth.
Please go to Google and type in log cabins, or garden cabins, or something similar and what you will see is the same of the same, site after website, all of them saying they only use FSC timber, but the designs, yep starts to make you yawn!
So our once beautiful gardens are now beginning to take on a european look, this is not all bad, as the Europeans, especially the Swiss ( I know they are not in the EU) design, and craft amazing looking cabins, as do the Latvians, Lithuanians and Slovakians and of course not forgetting the Finnish and Swedish! But in general the design of a log cabin has been kept the same because of production costs and the like.
So!! Garden Log Cabins designs stem mostly from a high output, cost cutting and profit.
As everyone knows we have the most amount of log cabin designs on the globe, more to follow, but! the most important part of our designs is that they are unique, to us, Sadly though they are always copied by the half wit’s of the industry.

Here is a note to everyone, only buy a cabin if your job is secure, and you can afford it, as most cabins are bespoke manufactured for you, refunds are almost impossible. So please beware of this.

Timber Frame Cabins-Offices-Studios, A Granny Annex, and so on, should now be built to the Euro 5 Code, however, sadly 99.9% of structures, timber frame or log dwellings which need to comply do not!
In the UK for instance, most weight bearing walls are manufactured using the lowest Grade C16 for any weight bearing area, as this is the UK’s minimum allowance. Now we are very different, we believe quality should not come with a high cost, and safety comes before profit. All our timber frame buildings have the highest-grade timber C24.
What also stands us out from the rest of the trade is our very thick, high strength framework. Our walls for a normal size office, or garden Studio are from between 210mm to 400mm, our roofs can be a from 250mm to 600mm and the floors can be from 200mm to 500mm depending on the U values needed, and climate conditions.

Fully pressure treated, why does your shed need to be fully treaded? The answer to this is quite simple: the building materials used are so thin they would rot in a year, so chemicals are needed to stop this!
OSB flooring is also done for cost, keeping costs low and earning massive profits!
Diagonal supports for added strength; why does a shed need added strength? It’s an easy one to answer; the thin framework is so poor and inadequate that they must reinforce it!
Safety is paramount, so having plastic in the windows and doors of a building that might fall down is a great idea!
Most sheds are clad in a mere 12mm shiplap; this material comes from the second cut of the log, which means that it will have a huge amount of knots running down the plank!
This material is normally made into eco pellets for burning for the local community in the log cabin industry; however, in the shed industry, this substandard material is used for manufacturing quality sheds! All pun intended.
