Are you planning to purchase a residential timber building? Do you need planning?
These questions we are asked so many times a day, I just thought I would write a quick blog to help those that don’t know.
If you are looking to put a cabin in your back garden to live in, or rent out, you will need planning, if you are looking to use the cabin, timber frame room, as a bedroom for your mother to live in, then that’s fine, as long as it’s under all other development rules, i.e under 30 sq metres, and under 2.5m tall if beside the boundary fence, wall.
No we have been told by numerous people that if you have just a shower room with toilet, the council will not jump on you, but if you add a toilet and a kitchen, they will.
We have been told its either one of other.
It’s always better to ask before you purchase a cabin and be told somewhere down the road you need planning, and to take down the cabin immediately.
You will need to have planning for anything over 30 sq meters which you intend to live in.
Full building regulations are needed for any dwelling.
There are so many people that try and get around this rule, and yes most council are greedy for cash and will charge you large sums of money for absolutely nothing, and most of the time they reject the project.
What’s the answer to this, vote in a council that will be more understanding to the government’s overcrowding policies and actually allow you to build.
Denmark and Sweden are far more understanding with its population, and understand that when you allow 3 to 4 million extra people into your living room, you need to open up the patio doors and start using the garden.
Our Micro Houses are actually a very cheap, and solid way to put some of the housing crisis to sleep, in Denmark, Sweden, Micro houses are now given dwelling status, and also have their own street address and number. And as a starter home make perfect sense.
Micro Housing or some kind of glulam structure which can offer solid foundation, great thermal values-properties and build qualities.
If you are looking for an amazing residential building , large or small, bespoke or a standard model, that really is top notch, please do not hesitate and give us a call or please send us an email.

The great thing about lakes, rivers etc, is that there is little or no planning rules, unless you are in an area of natural beauty, or your lake has some unknown fish or dragonfly that needs protecting!
So how do you go about getting a Log Cabin to float on a river, lake, or estuary,?
Simple really, you attach it to super strong floats, and when I mean floats I mean professionally designed floats that keep the cabin 2 feet from the water surface.
These floats also are super at keeping the cabin extremely steady and from it bouncing around and bobbing up and down.
There are a lot of you out there that will think this is a great idea, and of course if planning is an issue and you’re not able to build the cabins on the river, lake, estuary bank, you can now float them… if you’re in a big city and you find a place to moore, you could consider using these as student digs, spreading the cost between four of you, over 3 years, and you will have the coolest student digs in the Uni!
Maybe you are first time buyer, and finding it impossible to get on the housing ladder, need to live near work, maybe their is a lake, or canal you can moor your new floating home?
Our Floating Log Cabins are not the only opinion, we are able to build also timber frame on the same floating platform, which ever takes your fancy, we can help.
Remember…..Mooring charges normally cost a lot less than rent!
In Germany, there are many companies that manufacturer floating cabins solely to sell to fishing lakes owners, who rent them out to either families who want to just sit in a middle of a lake, BBQ and do a small amount of fishing, relaxing, sauna, etc.
Also hardcore (serious)( anglers)( fisherman) who are looking to catch their trophy..
So why are our camping pods, the best on the market? And why are our camping pods actually the cheapest?
We are also the only pod manufacturer that actually manufactures pods that are true work horses, earning money in the season, and standing fast in the winter.
Holiday companies more and more are now offering their clientele to stay in a rustic looking cabin style chalets.
This kind of off grid holiday lifestyle is becoming more and more popular, and with the eco badge stuck firmly to the brochure.
How many log cabins that are portrayed as really green and eco holiday are honestly eco and green.
Or are our old Mass Produced Awful BS3632 Caravan type buildings better?
an the outside, you would see almost a bonfire effect looking back at you through the screen.
I personally think holiday parks that are wasteful should be fined, also i believe it important that we do start looking at some kind of building regulation for holiday chalets.
