Beyond the Garden Shed: Discovering What Bespoke Log Cabins Can Really Do!
Say “log cabin”, and most people picture a cosy holiday getaway tucked into the woods, or maybe just a garden shed crammed with old tools and bikes. Those are the obvious uses, sure, but honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Modern, custom-built timber cabins can do so much more. In a world where space costs a premium and everyone’s juggling work, family, and downtime, a bespoke log cabin isn’t just another building out back. It’s a game-changer. It can totally reshape how you live, work, and relax.
At Factory Cabins, we’ve learned that “cheap and cheerful” only works until the weather turns nasty or the insulation gives up. Real value comes from building something that lasts — something precise, adaptable, and tough. That’s why we use winter-cut, slow-grown Swedish spruce, glulam windows, German hardware, and twin-skin construction. These cabins stand up to the elements like proper brick houses but still feel warm and natural. And when you throw out the design rulebook? Honestly, you can build almost anything you can imagine.
Home Offices and Creative Studios, Your Way
With remote work now the norm, garden offices have exploded in Kent, Sussex, and everywhere else. But those generic prefab pods? They often fall short. They usually miss the details that matter — like proper soundproofing, good airflow, or enough power for all your gear. A made-to-measure log cabin gives you total control.
Picture a music studio where you can actually play drums and record vocals without bothering the neighbours, thanks to thick insulation and high ceilings. Or maybe you want a light-filled art studio with big windows bringing in that perfect north light and climate control to keep your paints and canvases safe. Tech professionals can have a cabin wired from the ground up for servers, fibre optics, and ergonomic lighting—a real workspace that’s separate from home but just a few steps away. We build with CNC precision, so every socket, data port, and shelf fits right into the timber walls. No messy cables, no wasted space.
Your Own Private Spa or Leisure Retreat
Why drive hours to a spa when you can build your own sanctuary right outside? More people are turning bespoke cabins into private wellness centres. With our focus on net-zero design and top-notch insulation, these spaces stay comfortable all year, which makes them perfect for saunas, yoga, or meditation rooms.
Imagine a pool house with showers, a changing area, and a comfy lounge that looks out over the water — all built with timber that shrugs off humidity. Or maybe you want a gym at home, with rubber floors, mirrored walls, and heavy-duty ventilation, ready for serious workouts. Because it’s all custom, we can add full plumbing and electrics from the start, so your retreat works as good as it looks. Whether you’re dreaming of a cinema room with perfect sound or a games room for the kids, your cabin becomes the place everyone wants to be—right in your own backyard.
Sustainable Living and Ancillary Accommodation
Bespoke timber framing isn’t just about beautiful buildings—it’s a real answer to the housing crisis and the needs of families living together across generations. If you’ve ever tried to build something new, you know how planning rules can tie you up in knots. But here’s the thing: granny flats and annexe often get the green light under different, more flexible rules—especially if they meet standards like BS 3632 for park homes.
Picture this: a log cabin designed just for you, tucked in your garden. Maybe it’s a one- or two-bedroom place for your parents, giving them independence but keeping them close when they need you. These homes come with proper kitchens, easy-access bathrooms, underfloor heating, and insulation that actually keeps energy bills in check. They’re not just for parents, either. Young adults who want their own space while they save up for a home love them, too. Or maybe you’re eyeing Airbnb income—these cabins make perfect holiday lets. In places like the South Downs or the Kent countryside, a stylish eco-lodge can pull in serious nightly rates. Suddenly, a forgotten patch of your garden becomes a steady income stream.
Specialized Commercial and Community Uses
Timber structures aren’t just for homes. All over the UK, businesses are getting creative—using these buildings for pop-up shops, rural coffee stops, and reception areas that actually look like they belong in the landscape. Because we handle everything—from the groundworks to electrics and plumbing—you’re looking at a finished, ready-to-use space in weeks, not months.
Schools and nurseries are catching on, too. Outdoor classrooms made from timber give kids a real connection to nature, plus they’re weatherproof, so rain doesn’t cancel class. These buildings grow with you: need more space? Just add on. Equestrian centres love them for tack rooms, grooming stations, or even workshops for the farrier. They’re tough enough for farm life but comfortable enough to spend your day in.
The Importance of “Bespoke” vs. “Off-the-Shelf”
The real magic is in “bespoke.” Off-the-shelf cabins force you to compromise—with fixed sizes, awkward window placements, and flimsy walls that just don’t handle British weather. Buy cheap, buy twice, as they say.
But when you go bespoke with Factory Cabins, the building fits your life—not the other way around. Need a 10-meter open span for a dance studio? We engineer glulam beams for it. Want triple glazing and airtight, passive-house standards for year-round living? We build that right in. Looking to match a historic home or make a bold, modern statement? We tweak the cladding, roof shape, and finish until it’s perfect.
We use toughened glass, high-spec windows, and insulated doors, so whether you want a secure site office or a sun-drenched art studio, your cabin just works. And because we manufacture directly, there’s no middleman, so your money goes into better timber, hardware, and finishing—not someone else’s pocket.
Future-Proofing Your Investment
A bespoke log cabin is about flexibility. Maybe today it’s your home office. Down the line, it could be a teenager’s hangout or a guest suite. Swedish spruce and CNC precision mean it’ll stand up to decades of weather, resisting rot and warping. It’s a building that grows with you.
From This 44mm box
To This bespoke design
And let’s talk about sustainability. Timber is one of the greenest building options out there—especially when it’s sourced properly, like ours from slow-grown Scandinavian forests. It locks up carbon, and when you add solar panels or heat pumps (which our designs make easy), you’re not just building for yourself. You’re building for the planet.
When it comes to bespoke log cabins, your only real limit is your imagination—and the size of your plot. Need a high-spec office, a luxury retreat, a guest house, or a commercial cabin? You can have it, fast and without breaking the bank. These buildings do more than traditional extensions ever could—they solve real problems in modern life.
Why settle for a bland, off-the-shelf box that barely gets the job done? You deserve a space crafted for your needs, built from the best materials, and designed to last.

BESPOKE LOG CABINS: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR PERFECT GARDEN RETREAT
OUR NEW EMAIL IS SALES@FACTORYCABINS.COM
Introduction: Why Bespoke Matters
Here’s the thing—at Factory Cabins, we’ve spent years bringing together some of the best carpenters, architects, joiners, and machinists out there.
All with one goal in mind: building truly bespoke log cabins. We don’t just churn out the same old cabins you’ll find everywhere else. Instead, we focus on three things, in this order: quality, design, and then price. If we cared only about cutting costs, we’d be letting our customers down.
Safety always comes first in every project. We sweat the details on quality, then we think about price.
Picking out a bespoke log cabin can feel overwhelming. There’s a lot to consider, but honestly, safety should always top your list. Factory Cabins really does stand out—we’re known across the industry for being the best at what we do. Don’t settle for something average.
Call us up, tell us what you need, and let’s build something just for you. With Factory Cabins, you get the only log cabin that’s truly built for your peace of mind.
Chapter 1: Understanding Twin Skin Construction
What Makes Twin Skin Superior?
Every one of our cabins comes with a twin skin option—either 44mm x 44mm or 70mm x 70mm. This isn’t just fancy talk. Twin skin construction is a genuine step forward in how log cabins are built.
A twin skin cabin uses two separate layers of timber—one inside, one outside—with a gap in between for top-notch insulation. That’s the secret. This setup gets rid of cold spots, stops condensation, and keeps things nice and quiet inside.
The insulated walls? They work just as well as a solid wall that’s five times thicker. So you save space, use fewer materials, and—most importantly—cut down on costs.
44mm x 44mm Twin Skin: The Smart Choice
Durability, energy efficiency, style, and value all come together here. Using slow-grown Swedish spruce for both the inner and outer walls, this design works great for all kinds of spaces—year-round holiday rentals, glamping pods, garden offices that actually keep you warm, or family getaways where comfort really matters. It’s also a solid choice if you want a passive income property without high running costs.
Between the two 44mm spruce walls, there’s a cavity that fits 50mm to 100mm of insulation. With standard Celotex, you can get U-values down to 0.35 W/m²K. If you go with UK Building Regulations-compliant insulation kits, you can drop that even further, all the way to 0.19 W/m²K.
70mm x 70mm Twin Skin: Premium Performance
For those seeking maximum thermal performance, our 70mm x 70mm twin skin option delivers exceptional results. With a 110mm insulation cavity, this configuration achieves U-values of 0.19 W/m²K—significantly better than current UK building regulations require (0.21 W/m²K for 2022 standards)
The substantial 70mm logs provide excellent thermal mass, meaning they hold heat far better than thinner alternatives This makes them ideal for:
Residential park homes requiring BS3632 compliance
Locations requiring enhanced insulation (lakeside, coastal, or exposed sites)
Why Swedish Spruce?
Swedish spruce stands out for its strength and durability, which is why people keep coming back to it for building solid, long-lasting log cabins.
Unlike faster-growing woods, Swedish spruce trees take their time—about 80 years before harvest. That slow growth gives the wood a density and quality you just don’t get elsewhere.
So what do you actually get with Swedish spruce? For starters, it’s got great thermal insulation. Spruce’s low density means log homes built from it keep the warmth in, even through those endless northern winters.
It’s also known for its dimensional stability. All those tight growth rings from slow growth help the wood resist warping and twisting. If you treat it right, Swedish spruce will stick around for decades with hardly any fuss. You don’t need to baby it.
The wood comes from FSC-certified forests, which means it’s harvested responsibly. That matters when you care about the planet.
And you can’t ignore the look. The natural grain and color of Swedish spruce give cabins a warm, timeless feel that just works, year after year.
One more thing—winter-cut seasoned spruce is even better. When they cut the trees in winter, the sap’s low, so the wood stays stable and resists weird warping or cracks as it ages. That’s the kind of detail that really makes a difference.
Chapter 2: Complete Window and Door Freedom
Our Vision, Your Placement
When you go bespoke, you get total freedom with your windows and doors. Seriously—put them wherever you want, as many or as few as you like. Want a cabin with no windows at all? Or maybe you want a wall full of glass? We’ve done both. Just tell us what you’re imagining, and we’ll make it happen.
With off-the-shelf cabins, you’re stuck with whatever layout’s already set. Our custom service flips that. You can:
Pick the perfect spot for a window to catch your favorite view or soak up the sunlight Put doors exactly where they make sense for how you move through the space Decide how many windows or vents you need—maybe you want loads for fresh air, or just one for a cozy vibe Play around with different sizes to make things interesting and useful
Standard Door Sizes
We have three standard door sizes to choose from. Beyond that, everything else is made to fit what you want.
Main entrances, moving furniture, creating open feel
Double Door with Outer Glass Panes
1930mm x 2310mm
Premium entrances, maximizing light, statement features
Every door is made from joinery glulam—basically, that’s laminated timber that stays straight and true, even as time goes by. Unlike regular solid wood, it doesn’t twist or warp, so your door always fits snug and works smoothly all year round.
And when it comes to windows, we offer five standard sizes. Each one’s crafted from the same joinery glulam and fitted with reliable German hardware.
Every window comes double glazed as standard, with options for fixed panes or handy tilt-and-turn openings.
The tilt-and-turn system is pretty clever. You can tilt the window inwards for a bit of fresh air—totally safe, especially if you’ve got kids or pets. Or, swing the whole thing open for a proper breeze and easy cleaning.
We use German hardware on all our windows and doors. It’s not hype—this stuff really is top quality. The tilt-and-turn mechanisms aren’t just smooth and easy to use; they’re built tough to last for decades.
You get solid, heavy-duty components that keep working year after year. Opening and closing feels effortless, thanks to precise engineering. Security’s covered too, with multi-point locks and anti-lift features, so you can actually relax. The seals hold up in all kinds of weather—rain, wind, even salt air near the coast, thanks to stainless steel parts that fight off corrosion.
All the hinges and hardware are residential quality, the best you’ll find in the industry. And here’s the thing—this isn’t an extra you pay more for. Every Factory Cabins bespoke project gets these features as standard.
Custom Sizes, No Limits
Sure, our standard sizes work for most people, but sometimes you need something different. Maybe you want huge windows to take in that lake view. Maybe you have a unique design in mind, or you need taller doors for better accessibility. We can handle it. Whatever shape or size you’re picturing, we’ll build it to fit your space.
We use the same high-quality glulam joinery and German hardware for every window and door, no matter the size. So your whole cabin feels solid and consistent, even if you mix standard and custom pieces.
Georgian Bar Choices
Want Georgian bars on your windows or doors? We’ve got you covered. We factory-fit these bars for a clean, lasting finish—they’re not the removable kind you’ll find in our Country and Planning Compliant ranges. If you want everything to match, just let us know.
Chapter 3: Creating Your Bespoke Log Cabin – Step by Step
Step 1: Pick Your Log Cabin
Start by choosing the log cabin body you want. There’s a massive range—different sizes, layouts, verandas, roof heights, and setups. You’ll find over 180 bespoke log cabin bodies here. Still not seeing one that works for you? Shoot us an email or just give us a call. We’re always happy to talk through your ideas.
Step 2: Measure Your Space
Grab a tape measure and check how much room you’ve got in your garden. Leave some space between your new cabin and any fences or buildings—around 600mm is a good rule of thumb. That way, you’ll have enough room to actually build the cabin and keep it in good shape down the line.
A few planning rules to keep in mind:
Log cabins need to be under 2.5m tall if they’re close (within 2m) to your property boundary.
The cabin shouldn’t take up more than half your garden.
There are height limits: 4 metres for gable roofs, 3 metres for other roof types.
If you plan to sleep in the cabin, live in it, or rent it out for holidays, you’ll need full planning permission.
Once you’ve picked the cabin that fits, it’s time to choose the wall thickness. Go for 44mm or 70mm walls—or try the twin skin options (44mm x 44mm or 70mm x 70mm). Then just add it to your cart and you’re set for the next step.
Thickness
Best Use
Thermal Performance
44mm Single
Summer offices, seasonal use
Moderate
70mm Single
Extended season use
Good
44mm x 44mm Twin
Year-round comfort
Excellent
70mm x 70mm Twin
Premium year-round
Superior
44mm logs are seriously thick — 57% thicker than the usual 28mm ones you see out there. But you know what? Twin skin construction takes thermal performance to a whole new level, no matter how thick your logs are.
Step 4: Choose Windows and Doors
There’s a ton of options. You can go for single or double doors, pick from fully glazed, three-quarter, or half-glazed styles, and even add Georgian bars if that’s your thing. All our glazing? Double glazed, sealed units as standard.
When it comes to windows, you’ve got just as much choice. Single or double, pick any size you want. Again, everything’s double glazed. Some windows are fixed, others tilt and turn — it’s up to you. And the hardware on the windows matches the doors, so everything feels solid and looks good.
Step 5: Position Windows and Doors
Now, decide where you want each window and door. The visuals for each cabin wall actually show you the possible spots. Just make sure you’re not placing anything closer than 300mm to a corner or a main structural section.
Here’s something that sets us apart: we always double-check your plans to make sure your cabin stays rock solid. Not every bespoke manufacturer does this, but we do. It’s that attention to detail that keeps your cabin performing the way it should, year after year.
Chapter 5: Why Factory Cabins Stands Apart

So you are fed up, and want to live the easy life away from man, his politics and all his greed, you have bought some land, its in the middle of no where, and all you have is the ability to get cold water.

OFF GRID LIVING TWIN SKIN LOG CABINS FACTORY CABINS
OK , so lets talk about whats what. Firstly, I have written on my blog so many times about cowboy buildings, thats in all the market, shed, cabins, houses, timber frame and brick, ((( UK))) you look for the solution to a problem you might have, which is normally space, and what happens you go to the Yellow pages and pic the one that they say is the best, you then have some guy comes round, and prices up your job, in the UK any kind of construction starts from ( not shed or log ) but Timber , Brick, Brick being the one that most people jump on, then deciding it will not help much when it comes to being quick, no fuss, or mess.
So, prices….
The cost of building a 2 bedroom house in the UK is anywhere between £187,625.00 to £281,437.00 the average size is FROM 60 SQ METERS TO 105 SQ METERS, depending. ( we are not talking about quality buildings, we are talking about the mass produced crap, which are generally called starter homes, thin walls, zero ( what we consider to be nothing) insulation and the cheapest double glazing the company can find).
Most Normal houses start with a price if completely detached about £220.000, and we are not talking about a quality, amazing , superb, etc. they are OK.. Building costs in the UK start from £1,950 per square metre.
56.16 SQ METER. And the starting price is , ready , FROM £239.995 56.17 Square Meters.
This is for seriously a cheap manufactured house. I could not find anywhere how they built this house and with what, what materials and quality of them. And the problem is, it’s bunched up with loads of other houses. Are they using graded timber, or just unseasoned knotting timber, are they using quality insulation or just cheap and cheerful low grade rock wool, or some cheap foil back??
Do they love what they do, or just your money! This question I ask everyone who does any work for me, be it the mechanic or my electrician. If its for the money only, then later, find someone new who really enjoys what he does.
There is Land to be found, and there is space, and you can get planning, and you can make your house far better, cheaper costs, and almost off grid if you know what you’re doing.
All I am saying is think before you start to spend loads of money on a house that costs loads of money to run…..
And, in 2022, a cost estimation for a house is anywhere between £1,750 and £3,000 per m2.
Now check this out……… This is a build regulation that is far surpass the UK build regulations, it makes a mockery of it.
The main requirements for TEK17 are low U-values of house constructions and airtightness of the structure.
Floor construction U-value – not more than 0,15 W/m2K
Outside wall – not more than 0,18 W/m2K
Roof – not more than 0,13 W/m2K
Windows and doors (with frame) – not more than 0,8 W/m2K
We can go higher on the U value, and not for a great deal more, But! You will loose some internal space of your unit.
This way Norwegian authorities push new buildings to be energy-efficient and this way the country is leading in the world according to high standards for buildings.
This is what you should be aiming for…. But can your builder A-afford to build this kind of building, given current price levels, yes, he could if he were us, even cheaper, and Factory means Factory, and the TEK 17 build reg is way out of most people’s dreams.
Not because its super expensive, but because people just go to the wrong people to purchase their dream home.
Firstly Credit Cards, they are perfect, always pay deposits, or whatever you buy with a card, your protected. I have said many times, that builders now are going broke, why? because they spend the profit, and keep the material cost of that month in their pocket, profit comes at the end, not beginning, remember that and you are always safe, that’s how a good business works, also work out a payment schedule, not done, not paid.
And as everything rises in price, daily, weekly, your builder’s price is gone, and a new one is to follow, or they go bust. So, what do you do…? Call us…
Last words today…. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD!!!!
Who has the best range of Saunas in the UK for amazing prices considering no one has any timber, ( US) and who can deliver amazing Saunas on a 8 week promise, Us.
A Sauna is the best thing to relax in after a days graft. So many people sit in their baths and wallow in their dirty water for an hour or so and then dry themselves off with a dirty towel and think ( I am clean) your not, you are actually dirtier as the pours of your skin opened and the dirt went slightly deeper.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but bathtubs are really, really dirty. One study found that staph germs, which can cause dangerous staph infections, are present in almost 30 percent of bathtubs. Another study says bathtubs are 100 times more germ-filled than garbage cans.
But…….
Facilities offering sauna bathing often claim health benefits that include detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, anti-aging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation.
So please please have a look at our range of keeping young cabins……..
When manufacturing a Clock House Log Cabin, there are many things to take into account.
The first thought when manufacturing a Log Cabin is that it is built safely, and that it protects the environment. Its windows and doors are the best they can be, and that its water tight, and manufactured to be strong.
So many things to think of and here is a list for you to think over.
Firstly you are not looking for a cheap crap mass produced log cabin. You’re not, your bank account thinks you should and your telling yourself that a 34mm and a 70mm is the same it’s not, but you don’t, as wasting money is wasting money, so stay away from Resellers 34mm log cabins and crap they are no better than an up market shed, quickly manufactured windows and doors, they fall apart almost immediately.
Our Windows and doors are not just a amazing they are the best, we have spent no expense on producing them, and making sure everyone in the industry is way way behind us in quality level.
Lots and Lots of companies have already tried to already copy our door design , hinges, quality handles and lots, but copying them is one thing, but getting the quality means you must pay for it, and we have.paid for ours heavily, our doors are not allowed to be put into the cabin until they are completely and utterly stained and waterproofed, they they can be fitted, the reason for this is that they are manufactured from joinery timber, and their moisture content is very low and they will expand and not fit if they are not treated until exposed to the weather.
This is not a cheap cabin, no no means but it will stand its ground for more than 20 years…. FACT!
You are not looking for a concrete foundation that will crack and be damp. You are not looking for a company that shows you a pretty picture and delivers you a mess. missing bits, broken parts etc, and the sales man , woman , tells you they are the best of the best and you be as snug as a bug all year round, and the walls are 44mm single skin. You are not looking for a company who cuts its timber from Baltic Spruce or Pine, its quick grown and rubbish, Imedeska and a few other manufacturers, sell baltic pine, they basically bid in the local market for local logs, cut it, dry it, in old uncertified kilns, and then sell it on with mass profit, it splits, it looks nice a white, sandy coloured, but honestly the timber is crap.and it will rot in 7 years with or with out stain, rot protection, the timber is too new to hold any kind of self oil, and then you will remember back to reading this blog and remember when i said buying cheap is foolish.
A small note to the wise, in 2008 we all
remember the awful recession, and in that recession a few tricks were played by
certain individuals that I will not mention, who are though still trading, and
the trick was this, they knew that bad times were coming, so they did something
very underhanded, and as a supplier to some of these companies, we lost 100’s
of 1000’s of pounds. And the Public lost a lot more.
You must be very wary of the 12 week
waiting time scenario, companies who you think you can trust, tell you the
waiting time is 12/14/16 weeks, and you pay a deposit, after that 16 weeks has elapses,
they go bust! They go off line, and you will receive sorry letters, but your
deposit is gone, and then you have to go back to the bank to see if its
possible to get your money back, we do not have a waiting time, we are as
always pre Virus 4/5 weeks, the same as it was before, and 4/5 weeks after said
Virus.
So if your told to wait, be careful………………….
Please remember , 2007, many resellers went broke, pay by card. deposit and for full payment. Be clever, and be happy! Keep your distance and wear a mask!
Regarding purchasing Cabins, Timber Buildings or any item from Self Employed Dealers. Resellers, who sell our LV or FC brand, if you went to the Self Employed Dealers, reseller, first, please do not come to us, if you have a question, concerns please call us, but as they are resellers, we are unable to do anything legally to them regarding their prices , Please remember and do not forget a business needs earn money, we can say what we think they should be sold at, but we cannot by law demand they sell it at what we think. So, it’s always best to look at other websites, and please remember our cabins are high quality, so like for like pricing will be difficult, but there are a few companies out there that are the same nearly as ours and you can gauge if the pricing if fair or not.
I say this all the time, pay with a credit card………. It keeps you safe.
We have no claim or claims to our dealerships working practises, or who and what they do. We are not responsible for deposits they may take, and we are not responsible for broken doors, windows, or bad workmanship, fitted kitchens, bad fitted bathrooms etc, we however would like to be told this in writing so we can take the matter to the company concerned and ask them to help you with your concerns.
When we deliver a cabin to our resellers, they are the owner of that cabin, timber building etc, until they give it to you, you don’t even own it, once its delivered to you, you sign for it, but before you do, inspect it, you can refuse to sign for it if there is damage. The law is on your side, however if you have had a bespoke cabin made for you, and there are missing parts, or a broken door, you cannot return this, the company (reseller) has 28 days, or whatever his T and C’s say in which to fix your Log Cabin. We have some amazing resellers, and they will bend over to help you have that amazing cabin in your garden.
Here is a note to everyone, only buy a cabin if your job is secure, and you can afford it, as most cabins are bespoke manufactured for you, refunds are almost impossible. So please beware of this.
Please take note, please, please always ask if you can pay with a credit card.
When purchasing a Glulam log cabin you must be sure that the company you are thinking of purchasing it from are able to offer you superb quality, that their Glulam logs are graded, and that that grade exceeds C32 at all time. Also that they can prove to you that they have sufficient flat bed presses, not vertical to manufacture the Glulam log on.
We are able to manufacture the following from our engineered Glulam timber…
We are also able to offer our engineered glulam twinskin system.
We are able to offer our glulam timber in the following species.
Pine.
Spruce
Northern Siberian Larch
There are too many companies on the internet offering Glulam Log Cabins that are quite frankly rubbish, they stick bits of off cut timbers together and then label the building a Glulam cabin, the correct terminology for this timber is (crap) or finger jointed!
Finger Jointed timber is great for 19mm roof boards, or fence panels, etc, but it is not worthy of the title Glulam Engineered timber.
As you can see by the photos attached to this blog, we are able to manufacture 80m spans with our engineered laminated, Glulam, timber?
80 meters is a massive span, and to accomplish this the Glulam timber used is under incredible strain, and as a company to be asked to build a span of this magnitude, is an honor! But it is also an endorsement of the quality of our Engineered Glulam Timber.
We hate blowing our own trumpet, but who would you rather buy your Glulam log cabin from, Us? Or an unknown?
If your looking for a quality Glulam log cabin, please send us an email.
We first introduced Engineered twin Skin Glulam Log Cabins to the English Garden market about 8 years ago.
We also introduced them into the Residential Market showing their massive potential and how to save money and increase U values plus offering durability and quality.
There are many companies that truly want you to spend 1000’s more on internally cladding a single solid skin cabin log cabin, just for the sake of cladding their pockets with money on the prefix of giving you a better insulation package.
Most of the time this leads to awful condensation and headaches.
Glulam log cabins which are manufactured by us are not just amazing they are truly an engineering marvel.
Unlike other twin skins solid log cabins in the market, Logcabins.lv have allowed for internal, external movement, and with our new glulam twin skin technology system easily passing building regulations, and getting required U values, we believe that Logcabins.lv will as always push the industry to change their method of build, and invest in better machinery.
The only insulated building available in the garden 8 years ago was either a shed with thin panelised walls, very expensive timber frame conservatories, and of course the dreaded expensive brick and block construction.
Our Engineered Glulam Twin Skin Cabins have over the years changed the way people think about log cabins in general, and their usage.
The Twin Skin Log cabin Design stems from Mother Russia. Mother Nature in the most northern parts of Russia can reach minus 50 / 60 in the winter, and as lumber is the most freely available building material, cabins with very thick double walls emerged offering amazing U vales, as the internal part of the wall was filled with wood shavings/ sheep’s wool etc.
Our Engineered Glulam Twin Skin Log Cabins are the best in the UK by far, as our expertise has come from 40 years of experience.
The whole purpose of bringing this building technique to the market place was a passion to offer the best and keep this amazing deign concept alive, but to bring it to modern day standards..
Beware of any company selling Twin Skin log cabins that are not on our dealers list.
The dangers of buying a glulam twin skin log cabin that is not manufactured on a CNC computerized machine could in the long run be a very expensive mistake. Each and every notch must be inline, and stay true to each and every other notch, a manual machine cannot guarantee this, our investment of 10.5 Million Euros was needed to make our Engineered Glulam Twin Skin Log Cabins the best in the UK-Europe offering grading of C32 to C40.
If you are uncertain about anything regarding a Engineered Glulam Twin Skin Log Cabin please feel free to send us an email enquiries@logcabinslv.co.uk and let us help you.
More and more people are looking to put a log cabin up in the garden and live in it! So they take to the Internet and trawl the web looking for suitable cabins, but sadly 99% of people have no idea really what they are looking for, and are fooled by what the top ranking log cabin Internet sites tell them. Triple thermal walls, insulated this and best that, which most of the time is just blar, blar, blar.
44mm log cabins are fantastic for a multiple of purposes, but they are not residential, and no matter what you put as insulation, they are not designed to be lived in!
Engineered Glulam log cabins are the future for the garden, as prices come down, more and more people understand that wasting their money on cheap mass produced cabins, is a waste.
When looking for a cabin to live in there is many factors to take into account, more than just insulation.
Over the years we have sold thousands of cabins, be them clock house log cabins, garden offices, timber frame granny annex’s or a fully insulated residential building.our fully compliant camping pod.
Our Dealers all over the world, truly love their trade and because of them and them only our Brand has become the most known Cabin Brand in the world.

Specialists in Glulam production
Over the years I have spoken relentlessly about quality timber frame buildings, and how it is so very, very important to have grading of the highest caliber on timber which is destined for the manufacturing of Park Homes, Timber Frame Residential Buildings and the like, also that these kind of structures must be strong on there own merit and not part of a whole. Here you can see panels, floating in the air, which shows our true belief in our panel construction and the quality of build.
As I am sure a few of you remembered the 120mm glulam sports pavilion we built last month, here are so amazing internal photos. What you should notice is the thickness of the purlins, central and each side, also the weight bearing purlins running down the middle from back to front. As you will notice these are completely an over kill in size, but we believe in always manufacturing our glulam log cabins to be ready for all things mother nature may think to bruise or batter them!
Glulam cabins from logcabinslv.co.uk are not just quality, they also come with a remarkable price tag, our bespoke windows and doors and all manufactured on our Weinig new window and door line. The quality of our windows and doors is amazing. Bespoke Sizes available, also we offer a full bespoke glulam design log cabins survice.
Our superb quality, and amazing designs, makes our DF range possibly the best selling log cabin range in the UK. Our log cabins doors and windows in 44mm and above are not just good, they are are fantastic for the price bracket they are in. All are hand made and all are manufactured with care. Unlike 99.9% of companies on the Internet that sell Log Cabins, we are completely different in so far as we do not stock pile them, as stock pilling cabins means they were produced in the slow period, thats over the winter month and then sold in the summer period, which means your cabin has had 6 cabins placed on top or yours if you are unlucky, also it means the timber has been stressed and this equals all the worst signs for a disastrous cabin.
Logcabins.lv manufacturers all cabins fresh from order, we bespoke log cabins daily, so if you have a desire to have the door moved, or add a window bespoke is our middle name. As you will have noticed we have the largest range in the world of log cabins, sadly most of our log cabins designs have been stolen by most back street mills, ( our clock house log cabins) is one of them, also the Twin Skin log cabin system is another. If you are looking for quality, then there is only really one choice. Do not settle for less. logcabinslv.co.uk
Our Glulam ( Gluelam) Laminated Log Cabins, with full bespoke designs available, are not just the best Glulam log cabins on the market, they are the market leader.
Our Glulam Cabins come with not just engineered glulam timber, C32-40, but they also come with Amazing quality windows and doors. If you are looking for simply the best then price should not be the determining factor on what you purchase.
How to pick your cabin depends very much on how the glulam ( laminated) timber is produced.
It’s very simple actually to find out, just ask your supplier to send you photos of the press, the plainer, the certification that the glue used is not toxic to humans, and that the minimum length used to fabricate the glulam is no less than 4m in length.
As you can see below your laminated timber will be manufactured on the newest completely automated glulam line, costing a whooping 10.5 million Euros, the quality of the timber is second to none! The grade of our Engineered glulam timber can not be matched.
